Battery Life and Power Management in Electric Tractors: What You Need to Know

The KR-GEN 4 electric tractor working in a field

The battery is the heart of an electric tractor. Here is how long it lasts, what it is made of, and how to look after it.

How long a charge lasts

  1. KR-GEN 4A 50 Ah LiFePO4 battery at 48 V gives 3 to 5 hours of work, depending on the load; a second 50 Ah pack is optional.
  2. Krishi Maharaj-750A 105 Ah, 5 kWh LiFePO4 battery gives 4 to 6 hours of work.
  3. Haldhar 750Two 105 Ah LiFePO4 packs, 10.75 kWh in all, give 4 to 6 hours of work.

Heavy jobs such as deep tilling use more power than light ones such as spraying or hauling, so plan the day's work around the charge.

Why LiFePO4

Sukoon's farm machines, the KR-GEN 4, the Krishi Maharaj-750 and the Haldhar 750, use lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cells. They are known for being stable and safe, and for lasting through many charges: the Haldhar 750's packs are rated for 3,000 cycles and sealed to IP67 against dust and water. The KR-GEN 4's battery carries a five-year warranty.

Simple habits for a long battery life

  1. Charge with the supplied chargerThe Haldhar 750 charges from an ordinary 220 V socket with the charger that comes with it. No special set-up is needed: charge it at home.
  2. Charge after the day's workPlug in at the end of the day, or charge from solar panels in the daytime, so the machine starts each morning full.
  3. Follow the manualEach machine's operating manual gives its own charging and storage instructions; your Sukoon dealer can help with anything it does not cover.
